This tree was seen in a Coorg garden. The fruit was about 18mm across. Pls help ID…..

Habit: tree, about 15 meters tall
Habitat: along road side near a small hamlet
No flowering or fruiting seen on tree. Is this Terminalia chebula.

The tender leaves resemble that of Persea (Machilus) macrantha. If so it has to give phenolic smell after crushing the leaves.This is just a wild guess.

Appears to be some Lauraceae member.
