Large scandent woody shrubs, bark brown, rough. Leaves oblong or elliptic-oblong, acute or acuminate, base rounded or acute, dentate or serrulate, sparsely stellately hairy below when young, 7-12 x 3-6 cm; 3-nerved at base. Flowers in axillary and terminal umbels, peduncles longer than the petioles. Petals white, oblong, 1 cm long. Drupe yellowish-red, fleshy, 2-4 lobed, glabrous. Flowering and fruiting: March-May

Hope it’s umbellate here as the name suggests. Thank you … Thank you too … It is indeed umbellate sir. And yes, … and I once had a very long discussion on Grewia sp. and I would never be able to forget how he stressed on the importance of the length of various parts of the inflorescence individually and in relation with each other such as pedicel, peduncle etc. and not to mention the shape and presence of stipules too.

Grewia species in eFloraofindia (with details/ keys from published papers/ regional floras/ FRLHT/ FOI/ Biotik/ efloras/ books etc., where ever available) Looks like a species of Grewia Probably Grewia umbellifera, but it is a scandent shrub Thank you ma’am. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it were a scandent shrub and I mistook it for a tree! Happens to me all the time.
