Uttarakhand, S. India as per WCSP;
Saw this white coloured orchid on a tree almost on a edge of a cliff. It was bit difficult to reach. I could manage few photographs with whatever Zoom i had.
Could this be “Conchidium braccatum“??
Kindly validate the ID..
Location: Matheran, Maharashtra
Family: Orchidaceae
Date/Time: 30th June,2018 / 4:00PM

Very beautiful. There is some issue with taxonomy here. This should be Eria reticosa? Now known as Pinalia reticosa!

I need to recheck.

I have kept all our posts under Pinalia reticosa (Wight) Kuntze for the time being in view of the confusion.

Please check again 🙂

I think correct name/ identification is as per efi page: Conchidium reticosum

Picture of bulbs are important. Please share if you have.

Why not Eria reticosa just for curiosity!

Thanks, …, Eria reticosa Wight a syn. of Conchidium reticosum

…, sorry. I do not have a photo of the bulbs. Normally I would have taken apart one plant to understand the structure but when I came across it, I was at the top of the mountain and the winds and rains were quite incredible.

Will click if I come across it again.

Conchidium braccatum (Lindl.) Brieger (= Eria reticosa Wight) is small beautiful epiphytic orchid from Kolli hills.

Thanks for sharing. Bulbs are more important of this species for identification. I am again sure you must have seen it already….

As per WCSP (kew) both (Conchidium braccatum (Lindl.) Brieger & Eria reticosa Wight) are different species, pl. see
Pl. let me know which one is this.

It is Eria reticosa as per my records.

It is Conchidium reticosum as per discussions in the threads there.

Some say they are same some say they are different. Some say that one has reticulate network on the bulbs, other has no such network.

I need to check which one is which one, but for that i need a good pic of the bulbs.

Yes owing to the net like linings on the pseudobulbs of your plant, they do look like Pinalia reticosa.

There is another species, which doesn’t have this net like thing on the pseudobulbs.
