Indotristicha ramosissima

Indotristicha ramosissima (Wight) P. Royen, Acta Bot. Neerl. 8: 475 1959. (Syn: Dalzellia ramosissima Wight; Lawia ramosissima (Wight) Kuntze; Terniola ramosissima (Wight) Wedd.; Tristicha ramosissima (Wight) Willis; Tulasnea ramosissima Wight);

It is an endemic species, distributed in the states of Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. Yadav and Sardesai (2002) considered it as a rare species of Kolhapur District in Maharashtra as they were able to collect it from only one place (Rangana, Chikkewadi). It is a widespread species, sometimes very abundant in rivers.

Annual or sometimes perennial in deep permanent water; it is usually found in the larger rivers (Cook 1996).

Stem free floating, branched herbs, to 60 cm long, attached to rock by base, stem with 1.5-2.5 cm long ramuli and scale leaves. Flowers 1-6 mm long, axillary along the stem; pedicels 1-2.5 cm long, slender, erect. Perianth 3, free, 2 mm long, ovate. Stamens 3. Ovary 2.5 mm long, ellipsoid, stigma 3-lobed.

I had some doubts regarding the identification of Indotristicha ramosissima here.
As per the species description (genus key, description) Indotristicha is filiform, free floating and attached to rocks. The plate diagram also shows the morphology. Please refer to the attached document on Podostemaceae in Kerala by Mathew and Satheesh, 1997 pg 247. 
The images here have zygomorphic flowers and so cannot be Indotristicha ramosissima. The same error in ID seems to have been validated at FOI as well.
Please find attached, images of Indotristicha ramosissima from rivers (Kumaradhara) in Dakshin Kannada. Would be curious to know what others think. Please let me know.

Don’t have much idea about this. But again, cannot see any similarity in the images of Indotristicha ramosissima here and the attached image from the paper.
