Shrub for Id from Shimla-2010: This looks like Osyris lanceolata of Santalaceae. Can this plant be Osyris arborea as has been reported from the area, as per Flora Simlensis (page 442). I am attaching the illustration of this plant from the same flora for reference… Osyris arborea is a synonym of Osyris lanceolata Hochst. & Steud., according to “the plant list”. Nandi Hills I think the only species of Osyris from India: Osyris quadripartita As per Flora of India vol-23 (page-61-62) we have only one species of Osyris which is O.quadripartita (now known as O.lanceolata in TPL 2013). Here the pics show only male flowers which are born in axillary peduncled clusters. Female flowers or bisexual flowers are solitary axillary. However, leaves seems variable in the species as these are little different from the plants here in Uttarakhand. Thank you very much sir. I had only seen the female flowers until.
