Location:  Godawari, Nepal
Date: 18 April 2018
Altitude: 5000 ft.
Habit: Wild
Found under a big tree. I am not sure if flower and leaf belong to the same tree.

Flowers looking like those of Aesculus sp., but leaves do not

Thank you … I was guessing so.
Leaf may be from different tree.
Aesculus indica (Colebr. ex Cambess.) Hook.

Sir, can you post the pic of tree??

Sorry, I did not take the image of tree.
May be it is drifted from nearby.

ID Request?? — en-route Shakati – GHNP – PKA88 : 6 posts by 4 authors. Attachments (3)

Seen these fruits on the ground below a huge/tall tree.
Location: Near Shakati at GHNP (Altitude: approx. 2300m).
Date/Time: 30-09-2014 / 11:40AM

Habitat: Wild

The fruits belong to Walnut – Juglans regia, photographed at immature stage.

As the tall tree does not give any indication about the type of leaves & fruiting pattern, on second look, to me these can be the fruits of Aesculus indica.- Horse Cestnut.

Yes fruits look like Aesculus indica, but not the tree. It is a distant shot.

Aesculus has very old and very large trees in hill ravines and can not be photographed without powerful zoom lens.

Aesculus indica
we saw this at Makku and Sari vilages Uttarakhand
at an altitude of about 6,500 feet
in the first week of may 2018

perfect pictures with appropriate details. appreciate it. thank you.
now if you happen to be in area three or four months later, we can see the fruits and inside nuts in its own habitat and that would be lovely.
grows widespread in USA all over
see map on page 2: IFAS
A few years ago I saw it in Queen Elizabeth’s own gardens esp Sandringham’s vast land holdings with manicured lawns
So this tree has indeed traveled far over northern hemisphere

i seriously doubt i will be back so soon. would be fun though. thank you for the additional information

Indian Horse Chestnut/ABDEC04 : 1 post by 1 author. Attachments (2)
This tall and majestic tree is sheds its leaves early winter. Though not very common, there are a few specimens around Mcleodganj.
Indian Horse ChestnutAesculus indica
Mcleodganj, Dharamshala, HP
1750m approx.
03 December, 2014

Thanks for sharing. The classical palmately compound leaves are seen so nicely spread out that it must be providing very good shade.

Thank you … In full summer foliage it does have a lush canopy.

The plant is Aesculus indica

After being bare for winter months, these trees are coming alive once again.

wait till till flowers
a delight
a nice lifestory will unfold before your eyes

Here are the flowers finally. 21 May 2015
2 images.

Wonderful and the two fluttering butterflies I think in the top picture !!!
the entire neighborhood lights up it seems and from distance its spectacular too.
Loved seeing the closeups. Now we wait for the fruits. well done

Thank you …. Pioneers and Blackveins butterflies are attracted most to this flower. And the spots in the photograph are almost certainly these.
I had photographed the fruits last year too but that was before I joined this group.

so. we wait in anticipation for the coming end of summer for green and then in coldish fall season browning fruits

This is the kind of vision that gave rise to children’s fantasy tales…  fairy of the flowers
there are many such stories and books
peruse amazon for them you’ll be amazed
I have circled the one I mean in your second picture. see what i mean
it looks like a fairy sitting with profile of the face complete with a pixie nose, eyes and a red flower above her left ear… and there are several in different postures in this one inflorescence…
you just have to look…
this is screen clipping from the original picture

This is fantastic. I would have never spotted this. I will send a better resolution file with this crop soon.
Are there any stories we know specifically related to this tree/flower?

Aesculus indica – I came across several flowering trees near Gulmarg (Kashmir). The trees profusely flower in May-June. Thanks for sharing good photos.

The fruits are forming on these handsome trees and I thought of sharing a photo. 1 image.
