This Jamia sp is widely planted as an ornamental plant in lawns and pots. Not able to determine which species is it. Please suggest ID. Looks like Z. furfuracea Yes Sir. The earlier posts on Zamia also indicate it as Z.furfuracea. I am taking it asZamia furfuracea L.f. ex Aiton. The correct spelling is Zamia, not Zammia, as written in my posting; sincerely regretted. Yes this looks like Zamia furfuracea.

Please confirm or correct me. Zamia resembles, in external morphology, to palms but a member of very different group ‘Gymnosperms’.

Zamioculcas zamiifolia (Lodd.) Engl., ornamental succulent herb from Bangaloregardens, poisonous. This photo is not a Zamioculcas. Zamia from Panchkula: From Panchkula Cactus Park – This is one of “living fossil” plants, its kind surviving on earth since the time of the dinosaurs. it is known as Cardboard palm belongs to the Cycad family (cycad is greek for “palm” to which most cycads bear resemblance).
