In India, the genus Crescentia L. is represented by two introduced species viz., C. alata Kunth and C. cujete L. These species are planted in many states of India due to their ornamental values.

    Distribution: Global: Native to Tropical America and Mexico. In India (cultivated/planted): Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Tripura, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.
2. Crescentia cujete L.
    Distribution: Global: Native to Tropical America. In India (cultivated/planted): Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam, Tripura, Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
