Ruellia patula ??

I am doubtful with images at Ruellia patula

It also seems somewhat similar to Ruellia pseudopatula, but does not seem to have distribution in the area.

Any other close species ?

Noted. You are right

As per Flora of Rajasthan it Is Ruellia patula var. alba (Saxton) Bhandari,
Flowers closed in sunlight.

Almost close.

Yes, may be Ruellia patula only as per details and references herein.

Thank you very much Sir.
Unfortunately I have only these two images.

Thanks, …, for the id.
I also think close to Ruellia patula as per comparative images at Ruellia

agree with …

Still, narrow part of tube and calyx essential for confirmation

Check Dipteracanthus species

Dipteracanthus patulus

Dipteracanthus prostratus (Poir.) Nees ??

I agree with … for Ruellia patula Jacq. rather than Ruellia prostrata Poir. as per images and details herein.

Yes it’s Ruellia patula,

I too agree with you, …

R. patula or R. pseudopatula ?

White. In image ‘original2’ narrow tube does look longer than wide tube, and calyx is not seen hinting its very small size … all points hinting at R. pseudopatula.

TO me its a toss up between R. patula and R. psuedopatula since as a scientists we should need a more precise way of measuring and judging the length of the tubes and since the maker of the pic has torn it from the plant anyway, it should be stripped of the leaves and sepals and put alongside a ruler in the photo.

Please look at … submissions. we need to emulate his photo techniques for details

I will go with Ruellia patula rather than Ruellia pseudopatula as per keys and details herein.

Leaves and other characters as seen

Ruellia tuberosa IS THE CALL FROM ME!!

Dipteracanthus species!

Dipteracanthus patulus syn Ruellia patula. R. tuberosa is a garden escape.

Still doubtful whether it is Ruellia prostrata or Ruellia tuberosa.
I think it appears more like Dipteracanthus prostatus Syn. Ruellia prostrata

The key in Flora of Pakistan reads:

Flowers : Pink colour,

Is it Ruellia geminiflora syn: Ruellia humilis of Acanthaceae family?

I think it is Dipteracanthus prostratus

The id by … is correct, I think.

Most of the species of Dipteracanthus are synonyms of Ruellia now.

Thanks …, but theplantlist says it is an unresolved name…as far as I know only one sp of Ruellia, i.e. R. tuberosa is naturalized in India. All other wild species come under Dipteracanthus. But, I am not sure of the current name for this taxon, you may be right in saying Ruellia.

Thank you … for pointing out my mistake.

Only Ruellia tuberosa is naturalized in India.
Here I think the leaves are smaller than that of Dipteracanthus prostratus. It is not very clear whether the plant is prostrate or erect from the picture.

Any chance of Ruellia patula (Syn: Dipteracanthus patulus)?

I guess close to Ruellia patula Jacq. !  Dipteracanthus patulus

Yes, I agree as per images at Ruellia patula Jacq.

Validate and identify Ruellia spp

Ruellia species so far in efi.

Could be Ruellia malacosperma. However it is difficult to  confirme as the leaves in your photographs is not very clear

Thanks, … Ruellia malacosperma Greenm. is a synonym of Ruellia simplex C.Wright

It seems to be Dipteracanthus patulus (Jacq.) Nees (= Ruellia patula Jacq.) with white flower, erect habit, obtuse leaves, pubescent capsule are the supporting features.

It may be either Dipteracanthus (≈ Ruellia) patulus or D. suffruticosus which I think has white flowers, too.

THE plant is wild, the photos were taken on 27-6-2013 at 7 am Nandgaon Nasik.

I think Ruellia patula Jacq. as per images and details herein.
