Telugu name for Peristylus lawii Wight:

I found a Telugu name “malli dumpa” for the tuber of Peristylus lawii Wight
Reference: Kandagatla, Ramesh & Ragan, Ajmeera & Suthari, Sateesh & Raju, Vatsavaya. (2018). PERISTYLUS LAWII (ORCHIDACEAE): A NEW RECORD FOR TELANGANA STATE, INDIA. 41.
I am familiar with the word దుంప dumpa for tuber, typically an edible tuber.
But I am not sure about malli … would it be మల్లి … or … మళ్ళీ ?

Peristylus lawii is an orchid, usually used to cure insect bites such as honey bee.
The telugu name is మల్లిదుంప.

Would మల్లిదుంప mean fragrant tuber ?

May be …, మల్లి in telugu represent jasmine which has a fragrant flowers.
Actually, I am not familiar with local names. Only up to a some extent I can

As the flowers are white like jasmines, tribal people call such flowers as malli and for bearing tubers it is called malli-dumpa; even many parasitic herbs such as Striga is with white flowers, and grows on roots of jowar, grass etc, hence it is named as jonnamalli, when orobanche with small white flowers grows on tobacco it is called, pogakumalli .

Coining Malayalam name for Peristylus lawii Wight:
Let me put here for sake of reference, our conversation regarding the coining of the Malayalam name for Peristylus lawii Wight
A joint word flower-arrow that literally translates to പൂവമ്പ് poovambu will be used as a generic name for Peristylus spp. and specifically for P. lawii, the prefix മഞ്ഞുള്ള manjulla = misty … suggestive of the plant’s moist habitat is coined.
Thus മഞ്ഞുള്ള പൂവമ്പ് manjulla poovambu, a coined name in Malayalam, for Peristylus lawii Wight
Many thanks Sam ji for your help in coining the name.

Coining Tamil name for Peristylus lawii Wight:

Please help me in coining the name for Peristylus lawii Wight
I am thinking of a joint word flower-arrow that literally translates  பூ-அம்பு pu-ampu … I think of using it as a generic name for Peristylus spp.
And specifically for Peristylus lawii Wight, I am going to use the prefix பனி pani = dewy, refreshing, soothing
thus பனி பூ-அம்பு pani pu-ampu , a name for Peristylus lawii Wight
Please let me know your thoughts on this. I request you to be very liberal on the language grammar, thus coining names for several other species Peristylus would become easy.

The name flower-arrow (பூ-அம்பு pu-ampu) for Peristylus sounds good to me. I also like your choice of Tamil name பனி பூ-அம்பு pani pu-ampu for P. lawii.

I am glad that my coined names for both genus and species were good choices.

Coining Tamil name for Peristylus lawii Wight:
it may be referred as ambupoo அம்பு  பூ
