May I request you to pl. post an image of the lower portion of the plant.

Sorry ! Not available sir

What are the species listed in your area?

May I request you to pl. post high res. images to check the details.
By following the keys and checking species in efloraofindia, I think it may be Perscaria glabra from among the listed species.

2 high res. images.

Persicaria longiseta (Bruijin) Kitag. ??

Yes, Persicaria longiseta is more closer and likely, as per images and details herein.
It is also likely to be found in the area as per distribution in POWO.

I think Persicaria pubescens (Blume) H. Hara as per Persicaria longiseta vs Persicaria pubescens

Which Persicaria  ??

I assume its Polygonum. … can help.

I think Persicaria longiseta (Bruijin) Kitag.
Family: Polygonaceae

Thank you …
A little confusion about the flowering period and the elevation
according to the eflora linked below.

It grows at various elevations. Pl, check its distribution in Flora of China. Sea level to 3100 m. Phenology also varies as per the location.

Polygonum posumbi from Manipur.

… kindly check , this plant new to me hence when I went for a google search it did not gave me any result

There is a typo error. Pl check for Persicaria posumbu.

Now correctly placed as Persicaria posumbo (Buch.-Ham.ex D. Don) H. Gross (syn: Polygonum posumbo Buch.-Ham. ex D. Don; P. cespitosum Blume; Persicaria cespitosum (Blume) Hara).

Persicaria posumbu flowers are supposed to be short-stalked, but the flowers in your picture are on long slender stalks.

I suppose this plant to be Persicaria pubescens (Blume) H. Hara. A close scrutiny of the perianth will confirm the identity which should be glandular punctate.

Forgot to attach one link for comparison.

Persicaria pubescens seems to be the right ID!

Thanks …, finally u got the right id.
Thanks … for raising doubt that paved way for correct id.

Yes …, Real credit should go to … for the correct ID. Firstly, I also thought to go with Persicaria posumbu but after his query, I explored a little more and got the correct ID.

POLYGONACEAE FORTNIGHT 1-14 May 2014: P.hydropiper (L.) Delarbre from Uttarakhand_DSR_7 : 4 posts by 3 authors. Attachments (2).
Persicaria hydropiper (L.) Delarbre is a common herb in semi-aquatic habitats of mid hills in Uttarakhand.
Shot near Bhowali (Naini Tal), Uttarakhand.

I am little skeptical about the identity. Drooping inflorescence and pink color of perianth (above) are pointing towards P. pubescens.

Close up of ochrea and nuts character can tell if it is really P. hydropiper.
some links for comparison:

Thank you … for pointing out. I will have to check it with specimens/ plants.
Till checked its ID may be considered doubtful.

The pics are insufficient for me, but this may not be the case for the experts..
Please suggest id.. Persicaria maculosa??

P. maculosa should have denser inflorescence. Other characters are not clearly visible… but tentatively it should be either P. pubescens or other closely allied species.

Persicaria longiseta vs Persicaria pubescens:
I found confusion between the two on our site.
So decided to go through the descriptions from Flora of Pakistan, to find out the difference between the two:
Persicaria longiseta (De Bruyn) Kitagawa:
Ascending-erect, 15-60 cm high, glabrous, branched from base or above, annual herb. Stem brownish or reddish brown, glabrous, canaliculate. Leaves 2.5-12 x 0.75-3.5 cm, lanceolate-elliptic, acuminate, hairy, entire, with a rounded or cordate base, petiole 2-7 mm long. Ochrea 8-20 mm long, ovate, tubular, setose or ciliate, cilia almost equalling the ochreae or longer. Inflorescence very laxly flowered, interrupted 0.8-4.0 cm long, terminal-axillary raceme. Flowers up to 2.0 mm across, pedicel 1.0 mm long. Ochreolae 1.0-3.0 mm long, setose or ciliate, cilia 1.0-4.0 mm long. Tepals 5, biseriate, unequal, red, pink or whitish, ovate-obovate, obtuse. Stamens 5-8, filaments long. Ovary trigonous, rounded, with 3 styles, styles free above, fused below. Nuts trigonous, shining, black.
Fl. Per.: May-August.
GBIF specimens– onetwothree
.
Persicaria pubescens (Blume) Hara:
Very similar to Persicaria hydropiper (L.) Spach but usually much taller and with longer and larger leaves, up to 15 cm long, ochreae strigose, 10-15 mm long with much longer 8-10 mm long cilia. Spikes up to 15 cm long, filiform, which are rather drooping, extremely slender and much interrupted. Ochreolae glabrous-glandular with ciliate mouth. Perianth ± gland-dotted. Stamens always 8. Nuts trigonous.
Fl. Per.: June-August.
GBIF specimens– onetwothree
I think we can differentiate clearly based on the size and slender and drooping nature of the inflorescence.

OK
