Is this some Syzygium?

It looks like Syzygium zeylanicum

… A gift of Mansoon….the fruits of Syzigium zeylanicum  ..
Found in the open patches of Evergreen Forests of Kumta, Karnataka.

So tempting. can i pluck and eat them ? any way hungry after the days work

..Me too was much tempted too see them.. and was hungry too…
But most interestingly., I could not see any visitor to have the dish.. I mean, neither the birds, nor the bats seem to be eating it.. So myself and my team decided not to eat it…
But to error is human.. and I had a taste of 3-4 fruits… !
… And nothing happened… But they proved themselves as The ‘Best’ Laxatives..:)

But I still wonder .. why the fruits wetre consumed by the Birds….

A handsome tree, with flowers similar to that of a myrtacean member. The flowers possess a sweet smell.

Please check Syzigium.

Pl. check comparative images in efi.

I think it is close to images at Syzygium zeylanicum (L.) DC.

https://efloraofindia.com/efi/plinia-cauliflora/

Can it be a Memecylon species like
https://efloraofindia.com/efi/memecylon-terminale/?

Looks like memecylon sp. Only

Not memecylon

Was it a herb, shrub or a tree? Planted or wild?
Pl. post one high res. image to see more details.

It was a wild plant, and a herb I assume. Unfortunately these are the only pics available.

But these are low res. images. Pl. post the original high res. images to see more details.

It is also possible that it may an Apocynaceae member as per images at
https://efloraofindia.com/efi/apocynaceae/
https://efloraofindia.com/efi/cryptolepis-buchananii/

Pl. post the original high res. images to see more details.

2 high res. images.

I also agree with … first and … opinions.  Leaves in the images seems to be simple, and base leaf blade slightly curved inwards.  Leaves of C. buchananii are leathery or flexible, and so as it is a climber, it’s leaves are never been arranged in same parity even if it trailing on bare ground like leaves in the images.  The leaf arrangement in the images have very uniformity. And C. buchananii sprouts always having a twining tendency, but the image shows a hard sprout. Afterall, I am strongly suggests it as Memecylon.

There is a possibility for Eugenia species. Looking close to Eugenia rottleriana

Leaves somewhat appears closer to
https://efloraofindia.com/efi/eugenia-uniflora/
But not sure about the genus itself.

Syzygium zeylanicum var zeylanicum

Yes, it is Syzygium zeylanicum var zeylanicum.
