Please ID this small herbaceous ornamental plant with violet flowers. Photo was taken from a park in Sri Lanka in April 2012. Should be Pseuderanthemum graciliflorum of Acanthaceae. Is there a key for the genus Pseuderanthemum there are more than 120 species… how does one diagnose a species from so many so closely resembling members? from one photo that may not have most of the differentiating features identified…
I am confused and worried… This is a very rare ornamental plant also known as Blue Twilight, Blue Crossandra, Florida Twilight . Key to few species can be found at –
Key no. 10 -> 11 -> 12 -> 13 -> 14 = Eranthemum
Key no. 10 -> 17 -> 21 -> 22 -> 24 ->26 -> 27 = Pseuderanthemum you put in a lot of work.. I’ll go thru and get back / SL 204 081213 : Attachments (1). 2 posts by 2 authors.
