Attaching two images of a small tree ( 2-3 mtr ). In the first image you can see the leaves and flowers (white in colour and looks like the flowers of Murraya paniculata syn M exotica. The second image is of the fruits of the same tree. Will somebody identify the species for me?

Could it be Micromelum minutum?

Search in google indicates … may be correct. Mcromelum minutum (syn Micromelum pubescens, syn Micromelum integrifolium).

It should be Micromelum integerrimum as per Micromelum. Name Micromelum pubescens Blume is very confused in Indian litrature as available on net as it is shown as syn. of Micromelum integerrimum at some places while being shown as syn. of Micromelum minutum at somewhere else. However, range of Micromelum minutum in India is at Andamans & Nicobar only. These are the only two species available in India.

Attaching an image of a small tree (at present conspicuous with bunches of yellow fruits). Can you identify this species ?

I think this is Trichilia connaroides, Meliaceae

There are quite a number these plants at this place but all are small (say 10-12 ft high). Literature says Trichilia connaroides grows up to 10 meters. Attaching an image of the flowers of the same species.

efi page on Trichilia connaroides

It seems to be Micromelum minutum, a shrub.

For me, it is Paramignya griffithii Hook.f. of Rutaceae. The plant is small about the size of Murrya sps. and is a good nectaring species of some Swallow tail butterflies.

This is Micromelum minutum of Rutaceae. We have very good population in Semi-evergreen forests of Odisha. Its commonly associated with Walsura trifoliata, Mallotus ohilippensis, Canthium glabrum, Ficus sps., Saraca asoca etc. near stream.

I think … has correctly identified the species as Micromelum minutum.

IDENTITY 20052011BS 1: One correct Attachments (1)- 1st. Attaching the images of four plants for identification.
( a ) Identity 1 This is a picture of a small tree. The fruits on crushing emits smell which reminds one of the smell of Acorous calamus.
( b ) Identity 2 This is an orchid collected from the foothills of Darjeeling.
( c ) Identity 3 Another orchid which is very common at Cooch Behar. It is definitely not Rynchostylis retusa.
( d ) Identity 4 This is the imge of a medium size tree. The tree is common at Cooch Behar but unfortunately I could not find out even the local name of the tree. Please help to identify.

I think the pic 2 is any Pholidota sp. and Pic 3 is of Airedes multiflora

the first picture, though not clearly visible looks Micromelum pubescens of Meliaceae to me.

It should be Micromelum integerrimum as per Micromelum. Yes…to me also it looks same.

It should be Micromelum integerrimum as per Micromelum. This species of Micromelum is mentioned in ‘Assam’s Flora (Present Status of Vascular Plants)’ by Dr. S.Choudhury [Published by Assam Science Technology & Environmental Council in 2005] as Micromelum minutum (Forst.f.) Wight & Arn. (M. pubescens Bl.). The Assamese name of this plants is Hila-guti/Gobar-buti/Padra-guta.

Thanks, …, Range of Micromelum minutum in India is at Andamans & Nicobar only. Pl. see Micromelum.
