Hypericum sp. ABAUG2016/47 : 5 posts by 2 authors. 15 images.
I am slowly trying to sort out the Hypericum species here. This one is a much branched bush with woody stems. To aid identification I made some measurements. The flowers are less than 3cm across with mostly three flowers at branch-ends. Petals are 1.3cm long and 1cm wide. Leaves 2-3.5×1.2-1.7 cm. Sepals 5mm long and 3mm wide with parallel red streaks. Stems are round but flatten out at leaf-nodes and widen slightly. Stigma 4mm, ovary 9mm
The closest I have come to an ID is H. choisianum. Please help identify.
Pictures are taken in the past few days at altitudes 1800 and 2000m approximately.
Specimen 2, I think this belongs to the same species.

Woa!!! Such great details!!!

I think matches with other images at Hypericum choisyanum
FOC says “Sepals spreading to recurved, unequal, narrowly to very broadly elliptic, 7-8 (or longer if markedly leaflike) × 2-10 mm

Thank you …. I have found an excellent source for Hypericum species here. It seems to confirm our ID.

I saw the first flower out this afternoon. H. oblongifolium seedpods are now ripening and this Hypericum is just beginning to bloom. My guess is that this is H. choisianum. Please advise.

the first picture of any plant should be the entire … as in this one… then the details
