Grewia bracteata Roth, Nov. Pl. Sp. 243 1821. (Syn: Grewia obtusa Wall. ex Dunn; Grewia wightiana J.R.Drumm.);

India: In dry deciduous forests, occasional. Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala; Sri Lanka as per BSI Flora of India;

Flower- In axillary, terminal or leaf-opposed cymes; white, fading yellow. Flowering from June-October. Fruit- A broadly ovoid drupe, 4-lobed, lobes obscure or deep, rusty. Fruiting July onwards.
Field tips- Leaves 3-nerved from base, nerve axils with a tuft of hairs below.
Leaf Arrangement- Alternate-distichous
Leaf Type- Simple
Leaf Shape- Ovate
Leaf Apex- Acuminate
Leaf Base- Rotund or obtuse
Leaf Margin- Irregularly serrate
Habit: A small straggling tree, upto 8m.
Found along stream banks and degraded areas from plains to 1000m. Occasional.
Peninsular India and Sri Lanka.

These pictures are taken from Horsley hills, Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh on 10th of May.

I think your images of Grewia orientalis at FOI are of Grewia bracteata as per

I am adding a cropped picture of the tiny fruit, roughly the size of a Ber (Ziziphus). Its a species of Grewia Please check for Actinidia species/ Actinidaceae. Fruit has resemblance to this species. But not sure. Thanks … This fruit was very small as compared to Kiwi. For me apparently look likes Grewia carpinifolia Juss. (=G. rhamnifolia Heyne ex Roxb.).
I was able to click some more pictures during my recent visit to Lalbagh. Was lucky to see the flowering.

Some Hydnocarpus? Reminds of Grewia serrulata. …, the flowers look similar to your suggested id.
The leaves are smaller in my pictures.

It appears to be Grewia bracteata.
A straggler, leaf base obtuse-rotund (subcordate in G. rhamnifolia) Flower characters are almost similar for both the species. So closer examination is needed.
