MS Sept, 2016/06 Strobilanthes sp. ? for ID : 6 posts by 2 authors. Attachments (1)
Place : Sairep, Mizoram
Date : 21/09/2016
Habit : Herb
Habitat : Wild

Does not seem to match with any species at comparative images in efi at Strobilanthes

I am fairly sure this is Strobilanthes khasyana (Nees) T. Anderson – note only 2 fertile stamens.
This is the first record of this species since 1886 and is thus very interesting. Could you ask … if he could send any details of exact habitat, population size, height of plant etc. I would be very interested to see additional photos if he has them, even if not of such good quality.

Same Strobilanthes khasyana. Not common. Altitude : about 1,400 – 1,500 m. Attachments (2)

Thanks – the second photo is very helpful as it shows the distinctive axillary spikes of this species. I feel sure this is the long-lost Strobilanthes khasyana. Any details od population size???

I wonder if you could contact the contributing author of the three pictures of Strobilanthes khasyana on your website to see if he would give permission (with appropriate acknowledgement) for the use the use of the one (the third) of the three photos  in a planned publication where this species is discussed as part of a wider group.
By the way the fourth image under Strobilanthes khasyana on your page is not that species and should be removed. I am not sure what it is.

Corrected, …

Yes, of course

Strobilanthes khasyana was photographed by Sawmliana ji in 2016.
It was the first record of this species since 1886 as per …
There have been innumerable such observations. Only thing is we are not highlighting them in our group or elsewhere.

Great news.
Congratulations to Sawmilana ji.

Really wonderful Find..

Congratulations Sawmliana Ji…

Phyllanthus tetrandrus has been collected and photographed by Swamliana ji presumably after 60 years. His paper in this regard has been accepted for publication in Nelumbo and likely to be published in July 2020 issue.

Great. Congratulations to him.

Congratulations  Swamliana ji.

This is such an achievement

Hearty congratulations, Swamliana ji.

Matter of great pride !!!

Here is another species Euphorbia esula uploaded by me in 2013 on efloraofindia

Subsequently published as First record from India in 2014
Phytodiversity, 2014: Vol. 1 (1&2): 1-6

Cyclanthera brachystachya, another weed that was uploaded by Nidhan Ji in 2010 from Himachal, identified in 2012, when Balkar ji also shared his photos, and was published as new record by us in 2015

Subsequently published as First record from India in 2014.
Phytodiversity, 2014: Vol. 1 (1&2): 1-6

Sir, Cyclanthera brachystachya is another new plant first discussed at efloraofindia.

Euphorbia esula will appear in the Checklist of Flora of  India to be published by BSI shortly. The present scenario delayed its publication.
