Yes. It does not look like Gymnema sylvestre. The photographs are not clear. The foliage seems to have been infected. If any other better photographs are available you may please send for proper ID.

Chewing of these leaves causes numbness on the tongue.

Apocyanaceae?

Pl. check with images at the following:

Genianthus laurifolius (Roxb.) Hook.f.

Gymnema sylvestre (Retz.) R.Br. ex Sm.

Did you could decide between these two? Or is it something else.

I guess only Gymnema sylvestre R. Br. is listed in Tripura and

it could be the ID.
