Location: CBD Hills, Navi Mumbai. Date: 17-04-2010. Yup … it is flower of Grewia asiatica. It is difficult to see the comparative size of petiole and peduncle for proper id. Can be either Grewia asiatica or tillifolia?

Falsa of Hindi is Grewia asiatica. Your plant looks that only. Grewia species are really confusing. A close up of flowers would have been much better for Id. Thanks! I agree- it is Grewia asiatica or G. subequinalis. I had no knowledge that in Hindi- Phalsa and pharsa are two different plants It is Grewia tiliaefolia locally called Dhaman. Sending you a few photographs of Grewia asiatica [Phalsa] and also the leaves of Dhaman for comparison. They are the flowers of a young Grewia tiliaefolia I think these images may be of Grewia asiatica L. as Peduncles much longer than petioles as per keys in BSI Flora of India
Can be Grewia tiliifolia Vahl also.
