Id of a shrub from Mahe : 7 posts by 3 authors. Attachments (2)

Request for id of an ornamental shrub from Mahe. Photographed in November, 2019.

Hibiscus rosa-sinensis !

Thank you very much … Leaves appear different from the common China rose.

As I said earlier there are plenty of different shapes in this sp. However, we can wait for other member’s opinion!

Thank you … Could be perhaps mutants.

Pl. show side view of the flower showing calyx and epicalyx.

These are very important in Malvaceae plants. Calyx is important in almost all plants for id.

…, I do not have that picture as of present. I will post it when I am able to find the same.

Leaves are not of the flowering plant. Flower may be of Hibiscus mutabilis L.

Thanks a lot … The plant is a herb. Hibiscus mutabilis is also cultivated in Mahe and is a shrub or a small tree.

But you mentioned it as an ornamental shrub, in your post. May be double variety of Hibiscus rosa-sinensis as per images herein.

Yes, …, it is ornamental.
