Unarmed shrub with elliptic-ovate up to 10 cm long leaves, white or blue sessile flowers with ovate spiny margined calyx lobes. Often planted in gardens.
In Barlaria the fruiting calyx stays even after the seed dispersal. In flower the calyx would be green and when in fruit the same would turn to brown.

It looks like Barleria cristata Attaching flowering of barleria species in BHU Ayurvedic garden (DRAVYAGUNA- BHAISHAJYODYAN) as on 19.12.17. these are termed as shwet saireyak and peet saireyak on the basis of colour of flowers. The dried portions seen in photograph are leaves or bracts? These parts look very ornamental hence the query.

So what I have seen is Barleria cristata I luckily spotted a small plant with 2 flowers of Barleria cristata “Alba” and thought of sharing in the background there is Ipomoea quamoclit …red flowers and very thin leaflets ..on a vine I think… Yes Both growing wildly. But I quamoclit may be i think Escape, as it was cultivated also there

Could the learned members of the group help identify this wild flower that was photographed at the Shiwalik Golf Club, Chandimandir, on Nov 2, 2013. This golf club is situated in the Lower Shiwalik foothills near Panchkula, Haryana. This flower seems to bloom only in the colder months. According to “Plant Groups” (H. Mukherji) = JHINTI in Sanskrit and JHINTE in Hindi for Barleria cristata.
শাদা should be written as সাদা (white) , for a majority of West Bengal colloquial/verbal Bengali doesn’t make sharp difference between “S” and “SH”.
