Anaphalis? ABAUG2016/29 : 10 posts by 3 authors. 4 images.

I have been waiting for these to flower and had hoped on my weekend walk to Triund to see at least one plant with open flowers. I had no luck. I may have to walk up again in a week or so to see these open. I suspect them to be Anaphalis sp. Please advise.

I hope so. Pl. check comparative images ofAnaphalisat efi.

Thank you … I will do so and visit the area to photograph the open flowers soon.

I think leaves and there arrangement and flower arrangement is more important in proper id of the plant rather than the open flowers

I agree … Flowers would be just nice to see and photograph.

Anaphalis triplinervis, very common at such altitude throughout Himachal Pradesh.

Thank You … I went up yesterday to photograph the open flowers. I am posting for the group here. 4 images.

Checking both the species on the Flower of India, On the basis of leaf arrangement it is anaphalis triplinervis but on the basis of flower it seems more close to the Anaphalis nepalensis. so it is difficult to identify. I am sending first anaphalis nepalensis pic then in 2nd number Anaphalis

Flowers look similar in anaphalis. Go by the leaves.

Definitely Genus is Anaphalis

I guess there is  only one vein, midrib. As such it may be any other sp.

Pl. see keys of varieties of Anaphalis triplinervis from BSI Flora of India:

1a. Leaves broadly elliptic or obovate, 3 – 7 nerved 28.3. triplinervis
b. Leaves narrowly lanceolate or obovate-spathulate, 1 – 3 nerved 2
2a. Heads many, 3 – 4 mm across 28.1. intermedia
b. Heads 1 – 5, 0.8 – 1.5 cm across 28.2. monocephala

So it should be var. intermedia

That means Anaphalis nepalensis (Spreng.) Hand.-Mazz. but it still looks different.

POWO mentions it as a syn. of Anaphalis nepalensis var. nepalensis
You have to find out the description of this.
The Checklist of Nepal only mentions it as Anaphalis triplinervis var. intermedia

GBIF and CoL says !
