Alt.: 2000 m asl This tree is Glochidion neilgherrense Wight of Euphorbiaceae. I think the accepted name will be Phyllanthus candolleanus (Wight & Arn.) Chakrab. & N.P.Balakr., J. Econ. Taxon. Bot. 33: 713 (2009) as per World Checklist of Selected Plant Families (Phyllanthus candolleanus (Wight & Arn.) Chakrab. & N.P.Balakr. syn. This tree is from Panchmari of Satpura Tiger Reserve.

I think it is Glochdion johnstonei
Family Euphorbiaceae
Experts please confirm the ID Yes, It is Gochidion johnstonii Sorry for wrongly spelt johnstonei as johnstonii. The correct name is Glochidion hohenackeri (Muell.-Arg.) Bedd. var johnstonei (Hook.f.) T. Chakrab. & Gangop. ‘Glochidion hohenackeri ‘ is called ‘Bhoma’ ‘भोमा’ in Marathi. POWO gives distribution only in SW India. Maybe Glochidion hohenackeri (Müll.Arg.) Bedd. only as per images and details herein. Glochidion candolleanum. The styles are of G. candolleanum and not of G. hohenackeri which are button-like. . ![]() FOR VALIDATION :: ¿ Glochidion hohenackeri (Müll.Arg.) Naduvattam, about 1908 m asl To me appears close to images at
https://efloraofindia.com/2013/09/14/glochidion-candolleanum/ I was thinking about the same whether it could be Glochidion candolleanum (Wight & Arn.) Chakrab. & M.Gangop.
But I am not familiar enough to suggest G. candolleanum so I suggested G. hohenackeri.
I request … to sort the ID, if my photos help. Here, please note the columnar/slightly obconic styles. Thus, this is Glochidion candolleanum. The difference of this species from G. hohenackeri is very narrow which has subglobose or button-like or discoid styles. .
… Glochidion sp. … could be G. ellipticum … commonly known as: bhoma • Coorgi: ಕಾಡು ಕಪ್ಪಿ kaadu kappi, ಸುಳ್ಳೆ ಮರ sulle mara • Kannada: ಕಾಡು ಕಪ್ಪಿ kaadu kappi • Konkani: भोमा bhoma • Malayalam: നീരചല്ലീ neerchalli, ഞാഞെട്ടി njaanjetti • Marathi: भोमा bhoma Yes for G. ellipticum It certainly appears to be Glochidion ellipticum from Euphorbiaceae. I think it is more closer to images at Glochidion hohenackeri (Müll.Arg.) Bedd. rather than those at Glochidion ellipticum Wight It may be https://efloraofindia.com/efi/glochidion-candolleanum/ due to the shape of the style at the tip of the fruit. https://efloraofindia.com/2013/09/14/glochidion-candolleanum/ Possible, … Many thanks.
Requesting … to check if the photos help to decide the ID between G. candolleanum and G. hohenackeri.
These images are of Glochidion hohenackeri only because the styles are connate into a subglobose or discoid mass. The closely related species, G. candolleanum has clavate, obconic or turbinate styles.
Pl. see the cropped image.
To me it appears to be clavate in shape rather than subglobose or discoid mass.
In that case Glochidion candolleanum. . References: World Checklist of Selected Plant Families (Phyllanthus candolleanus (Wight & Arn.) Chakrab. & N.P.Balakr. syn.
