Species, genera, family & Order pages of‎‎‎Order Cantharellales (Fungi) in efi site are now with images. I request you to pl. go through & point out mistakes, if any. I hope this will aid in identifications in future. If anybody can send images of other species of this family (for incorporation in the website), if any, or can identify unidentified/ wrongly identified images, it will be really nice.

As usual I admire your enthusiasm and continued efforts on accumulating the database of flora and fungi of India… Wish you loads of luck for that…
But at the same time I’d like to add a word of caution as other members before me too have done that there needs to be a guideline for posting photos of fungi… I cannot fathom that though we have a very comprehensive guideline for photographing flora… and I fondly remember all the senior members chiding me in the beginning for not presenting the data properly and it really helped me to notice the required characteristics and learn better… Like wise for Fungi you need to set certain guidelines for photography without which all these identifications hold no value on the basis of unfocused photographs … or worse only the photo of the caps……
Please refer to some of the example links I’ve posted and as other members have also pointed out, set some rules for Fungi photographs…
Thanks, … You are completely right. Members have to follow these.

but we seem to make exceptions for certain prolific photographers. why? a mom and pop picture must only get a genus level id only. if one does not follow rules and provide enough pictures to support identification, they must not be indulged to a species level id. no matter what esp. in fungus. rules must be same for everybody. additionally, mushrooms are often searched out by common people for food, we must have disclaimer that most mushrooms are not edible. may be toxic. even fatal. i agree with …
