Cultivated plant for ID (Bignoniaceae) :: Mumbai :: ARKDEC01 : 12 posts by 3 authors. Attachments (6)

Seen this plant in a cultivated garden in Mumbai in December 2016.
Requested to please ID the same.

Wonderful images. Pl. Try to find a match from comparative images in EFI site

I could not find a match from comparative images at Bignoniaceae

This should be Radermachera Kunming of Bignoniaceae.

Thank you … It does look like the images on the net.
But this seems to be a cultivar/hybrid?

Radermachera cunming

This could be Radermachera yunnanensis C.Y.Wu

Still there no legitimate name under R. Kunming, and plant in photos is a cultivar of Radermachera and of Yunnan origin. Therefore there a possibility and should be R. yunnanensis.

This should be Radermachera yunnanensis C.Y.Wu

Ornamental For ID : Flower Show,Mumbai : 160214 : AK-6 : Attachments (2). 5 posts by 2 authors.
Today at the Flower Show in Mumbai.

This was a small potted plant, could be a tree.

It is a cultivar of a Radermachera sp. [Bignoniaceae].

Could this be Radermachera Kunming, common name Dwarf Tree Jasmine?
On searching, the flowers look similar.

Does look similar to the cultivar ‘Kunming’ but I’m unable to determine the species. Information on the net is obscure: http://www.calyx.com.au/radermachera.html

This should be Radermachera yunnanensis C.Y.Wu as per … in another thread.

From another thread:

“A similar plant on FoI is Radermachera sinica. This link provided by Viplav ji in a similar post By Aarti ji also talks about R. sinica.”

As per many threads some of them represented this plant as Radermachera pierrei Dop but according to TPL this is synonymous to Radermachera hainanensis Merr. a species with golden yellow flowers. Flowers do not resemble to R. sinica (Flowers funnelform). I’m still with Radermachera yunnanensis.

Seen again at the recent Flower Show in Jijamata Udyan, last month. Attachments (3)

Radermachera ‘Kunming’

I think it is the same as in Radermachera yunnanensis C.Y.Wu (Cultivated) ?

Searched both names on internet.
Radermachera
‘Kunming’ is different from Radermachera hainanensis.

The posted plant must be Radermachera ‘Kunming’.
About Radermachera ‘Kunming’ the content written revolves with same set of words, with not much light thrown from scientific angle.
The most repeated content is:
The dwarf jasmine tree (Radermachera ‘Kunming’) is native to Thailand where it is also known as peep thong, and is frequently sold in Australia as summerscent.
It is closely related to a well known foliage plant called China doll (Radermachera sinica), and is frequently misidentified as such.
Radermachera sinica is easily seen to be a different plant.
… the leaves are opposite, bi-tri-imparipinnate

Radermachera hainanensis is seen to be a different plant.

  3. Sunshine Seeds
  4. National Museum of Natural History – here, the leaves of posted plant may be compared with herbarium of Radermachera hainanensis.

I hope … replies to this.
