As per efi thread:
Zehneria hookeriana (Wight& Arn.) Arn. differs from its allied species, Z. bodinieri, by having longer fruiting pedicel and peduncle; and fruit mostly several on common peduncle.
This is endemic to Tamil Nadu and occurs in the high altitudes.

Referring to … post – Status of Zehneria scabra in India, and going through various Zehneria posts in the eFI database …Zehneria bodinieri (H.Lév.) W.J.de Wilde & Duyfjes is the most probable ID of my plant. Not confident.
My posted plant is closest to that in … post – Id of the climber please? 30 september 2010, and its duplicate – Botanical name of the climber please 1 October 2010.
In this post, the flower is about 4 mm across; the fruit is spherical, about 10 – 12 mm dia.

I have been somewhat confused about the status of Zehneria scabra, uploaded by several members including …, … and other members from Kas
These confusions are often confounded by the absence of author citations. Strange as it may look Zehneria scabra (L.f.) Sond (Swedeish name flikig pilreva), and Melothria scabra Naudin (Swedish name djungelgurka), are two distinct species, often confused on net, as Melothria is an important species with good looking mini watermelon like fruits, and none look similar to our Kas plants. and as such names Cape zehneria, South African Zehneria won’t apply to our Kas plant.
My doubts are supported by recent nomenclature update by Renner and Pandey in 2013
They do not list Zehneria scabra for India, and Melothria perpusilla (Blume) Cogn. is cited as synonym of Zehneria perpusilla (Bl.) Bole and Almeida…….but as per citation this species does not grown in India.
The other name often cited as synonym of Melothria perpusilla is correctly Zehneria hookeriana (Wight & Arn) Arn, is endemic to Tamil Nadu
This leaves third name Zehneria maysorensis (Wight & Arn.) Arn. found in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Maharashtra.
Could it be our plant from Kas???

Looks like some Zehneria sp. from Cucurbitaceae.
Most probably Zehneria scabra (Linn. f.) Sond.

Carl Linnaeus (1707-1778) is abbreviated as L. and not Linn..
Similarly, Carl Linnaeus (1741-1783) is cited as L.f. and not Linn.f.
This is according to ICBN as well as Brummitt and Powel (1992). Though the name is same but the persons are different.

If my understanding is correct, then the first picture is of Zehneria maysorensis (Wight& Arn.) Arn. and the second one could be of Zehneria bodinieri (H.Lév.)W.J.de Wilde & Duyfjes. Pl refer to the following paper.

Yes, …, thanks again for sensing this important issue and calling for a revisit of Zehneria. This will enable us to update the nomenclature in our database.
As per the literature, and as also pointed out by you in an earlier thread, Z. scabra and the genus Melothria (now regarded “confined to America”) do not occur in India. This is a major shift in our understanding as we have been using these names to our Indian plants. While the distinction between Z. bodinieri and Z. maysorensis are clear, the differences between the former species and Z. hookeriana are still vague (at least to me). A well-defined key to the Zehneria species in India would help sort out the confusion more effectively.

Hoping to get clarity from those who are studying Cucurbitaceae of Maharashtra – especially Western Ghats.

Please take a look at the types. The most recent treatment (de Wilde and Duyfjes, 2006, cited in full below) does not consider M. perpusilla var. subtruncata a synonym of Z. maysorensis, but I am unsure why.
The syntypes of Melothria perpusilla (Blume) Cogn. var. subtruncata Cogn. are:
India, Wight 1151 (CAL image attached; K, LE, W),
Sri Lanka, Thwaites 1613 (BR, CAL image attached, G, K, LE, P).

You will need to look at this images and decide whether your plant represents Zehneria maysorensis.
The images are very high quality and easily found. Just go to Mnhn and type in Zehneria maysorensis plus the code for the geographic region: ASI.

This is still kept in unidentified section in the site. Is not it the correct ID. I guess it is the correct ID.

No. Definitely it is not Zehneria maysorensis as per details herein and as at Zehneria‎
It is likely to be Zehneria bodinieri only as per keys and details herein.
Recently a new combination seems to have been made as Zehneria odorata (Hook.fil. & Thomson ex C.B.Clarke) M.D.Dwivedi, A.K.Pandey & H.Schaef., Taxon 67(1): 62 2018 (syn: Zehneria indica (Lour.) Keraudren as mentioned in Checklist of Nepal) as per POWO. However, POWO does not show its distribution in Nepal.
Earlier The Cucurbitaceae of India: Accepted names, synonyms, geographic distribution, and information on images and DNA sequences by Susanne S. Renner, Arun K. Pandey. (2013) has given Zehneria indica (Lour.) Keraudren (as mentioned in Checklist of Nepal) as a syn. of  Zehneria japonica (Thunb.) H.Y. Liu.

This plant is somewhat matching to Zehneria bodinieri (H.Lév.) W.J.de Wilde & Duyfjes in shape of fruit and length of fruiting pedicel. But the leaves of this plant are different from that of Kaas plants. Let us wait for comments from experts.
Zehneria hookeriana (Wight & Arn.) Arn. is said to be endemic to Tamil Nadu and its fruits have longer pedicels. The posted plant is not Z. maysorensis, as has been previously identified, according to the following reference.

We had discussions earlier also regarding the ID of this sp. Since, this sp. has got no distribution in Nepal it looks like detailed study is necessary.

Only this has got distribution as per detailed work done on this genus in W.J.J.O. DE WILDE & B.E.E. DUYFJES in THAI FOR. BULL. (BOT.) 32: 15–31. 2004.

I have checked this earlier and there is no distribution for Nepal unless it is new to Nepal.
