As per efi thread: Cultivated melons come in a large range of forms, but are grouped into three main groups: 1. Group Cantapaulensis: Cantaloupes having variety of skin forms but with non-netted thick skin and yellowish-orange flesh with distinct aroma.
2. Group inodorous: Smooth thin skinned melons with white or greenish flesh without strong aroma.
3. Group reticulatus: distinctly netted skin and lighter coloured flesh

I have updated Cucurbitaceae in eFI site in line with The Cucurbitaceae of India: Accepted names, synonyms, geographic distribution, and information on images and DNA sequences by Susanne S. Renner, Arun K. Pandey. (2013) by adding all the species found in India on genera pages.
No. of genera was reduced from 23 to 20 due to updated accepted names.
You can see them at Cucurbitaceae page & genera links at the bottom.
I think now all the posts of Solena amplexicaulis are to be sorted into three new accepted names as per details below:
Solena amplexicaulis- distributed in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala & Endemic as per The Cucurbitaceae of India. Other species are Solena heterophylla Lour. subsp. heterophylla (syn. Melothria heterophylla (Lour.) Cogn.) widely distributed all over India & Solena heterophylla Lour. subsp. napaulensis (Ser.) W.J.de Wilde & Duyfjes distributed in Western Himalaya (Garhwal, Kumaon hills, Uttarakhand) as per The Cucurbitaceae of India. For differences between two subspecies, pl. see Flora of China.
