Desmodium multiflorum or D. elegans?
Mcleodganj-Triund trek, HP

2nd specimen at 1850m; I think this is the same species but posting it separately in case I am mistaken.
efi page on Desmodium multiflorum & Desmodium elegans I collected a branch with pods of the second sample (because it was nearby) and looked closely. The pods are covered in silvery hair with an occasional brown strand (Oleg Polunin and Stainton say D. multiflorum has brown hair on pods). The terminal leaf is always pointed (D. elegans). I would like to think my samples are D. elegans but the pods are small, matching the size of D. multiflorum. Please advise. 6 images. fantastic. esp. all those white background photography and close ups. so many fibres in the tiny green capsule. so its not just cellulose. wonder what is the chemical constituent. may be some senior members know? added them in mail today Desmodium sp.? ABSEP2016/41 : 5 posts by 4 authors. 4 images. I think Desmodium elegans.. Thank you … After your email I researched a bit more and found that the plant indeed can grow above six feet in height and has large leaves. I will keep watch for the seedpods and compare it with the other Desmodium here (small shrubs in habit). Desmodium elegans I took this flower picture during Char Dam yatra near Gangotri It seems to be a legume, perhaps Desmodium sp. Pl. Check for Desmodium elegans. Attaching the photographs taken at way to Valley of Flowers i.e. Govindghat to Ghangharia in 2008.
