Is this Punica granatum/P.malus variant? The plant is Punica granatum Flore Pleno (common names: Flowering Pomegranate, Noshi Shibari, Double Flower Pomegranate)
Punica? : 6 posts by 4 authors. Yes, a double-flowered form of Punica granatum. These generally produce little or no fruit, however. yes sir It never produce fruit. Is it variety ? I believe that the double-flowered form is called P. granatum ‘Flore-Pleno’. There is also a bicolored form with a white edge. Yes it is Punica granatum. Double petals are not difficult to encounter Punica granatum var. nana is a dwarf shrub producing small flowers and small fruits. It is medicinal and also traded in the market.

Pomegranate is a bit of a failure here in the sense, though we get the fruits, it ripens during the monsoon and is not so good, they do turn red and are sweet, but very small and they crack up when mature, sometimes even before they ripen. beautiful flower. Yes, it grows well in drier areas where the rainfall is less. It does well in soil with good drainage. The flowers are very beautiful and in Mumbai I have seen fisherwomen with their hair decorated with this flower. Here is another example of gender confusion: Punica granatum!!! but it is accepted this way!! I would make a page listing all such special encounters !!! In the third picture the pomegranate shows black specks which are marks of pecking by Parrots. They love Pomegranate
Punica granatum of Lythraceae family just to correct the spelling. The genus of species and generic name doesnt match in gender I meant. The black spots are marks of pecking of the fruit-fly that lays eggs inside the fruit. This infestation is common on guava and p’granate.

Sharing some photographs of Flowers. Attachments (3) is it pomogranet? Yes … Here is one Anar-shrub I found in Santiago de Chile in March 2010. It was just a shrub and had many fruits. In India I have seen big trees but not shrubs carrying fruits.
It is not uncommon in India to see shrubby Punica granatum (Anar), especially in hilly areas where it grows almost wild.
There is a saying which goes like ” Ek Anar sou Bimar”. A medicinally important fruit.

for latin, it will be for your own good. In latin seed is called ‘semine’. Granatum should be based on pollen and not on seeds as granum stands for pollen grain and not seed grains.

Locally known as दाडू Wild pomegranate Seeds are used for making chutney Solan April 2019 very nice to see. any fruits and seeds yet? I had seen a lot of Pomegranate trees with fruit on the way from Jammu to Pahalgam, closer to Pahalgam.
Was told these are wild trees and are used to make chutney.
