Rotala fimbriata is endemic to southern India. It is widely distributed throughout its known range.

Native: India (Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu)
It grows in waterlogged areas especially rock outcrops with ephemeral pools, ditches etc.
