… just guessing – any member of Melastomataceae ?

Yes ..My opinion is Sonerila sp.

Can be S scapigera

images of Sonerila scapigera – seems to match.

Sonerila devicolamensis M.P. Nayar

.

Sonerila pulneyensis on FOI looks similar to Sonerila devicolamensis M.P.Nayar in efi.
On searching on net, I am unable to decide based on the two pdfs I got as below, which are related to these:
Rediscovery of Sonerila devicolamensis Nayar (Melastomataceae), an endemic, endangered species of the Western Ghats.  KPD Kumary, E.S. SANTHOSH KUMAR, A G Pandurangan (Abstract: Sonerila devicolamensis Nayar, an endemic species of the Southern Western Ghats, is rediscovered from its type locality after its description. Detailed description and illustration is provided, based on the fresh collection.)
Sonerila sreenarayaniana (Melastomataceae), a new species from Kerala, India. By C.N. Sunil, V.V. Naveen Kumar and T.S Rajeev- International Journal of Advanced Research (2014), Volume 2, Issue 3, 701-704-  (Abstract: Sonerila sreenarayaniana C.N. Sunil, Naveen Kumar and Rajeev, a new species from Melastomataceae collected from the evergreen forest of Pooyamkutty area of Ernakulam District, Kerala, India is described. The species is allied to S. devicolamensis Nayar but differs from it in having 4- angled stem with densely clothed brown peltate scales, penninerved, glandular bristly, larger leaf lamina and longer petiole, smaller calyx lobes, petals, filaments, anthers and style.)
May I request to have a look and advise pl.

The photos uploaded as S. devicolamensis in efloraofindia is exact.

The second pdf you attached herewith is of S .sreenarayaniana….

Thanks a lot, …
What about images at Sonerila pulneyensis on FOI ? Is the id correct here.

It seems so…

One described feature of Sonerila pulneyensis which doesn’t fully agree with the images here:
Flowers of India (retrieved 22Jan2018)

is that the inflorescence is supposed to be 5-flowered. In the images at FOI, I can see 7-flowered inflorescence.
Sonerila devicolamensis images at
/species/m—z/m/melastomataceae/sonerila/sonerila-devicolamensis

show 2-flowered inflorescence. In the descriptions of Sonerila devicolamensis I could find, somehow the size of the inflorescence is missing. Any clarification on how many flowers are typically there in an inflorescence of Sonerila devicolamensis, will be welcome.

Sonerila pulneyensis in FOI and S.devicolamensis in efi are more or less same species and I believe FOI image is S. devicolamensis or S.nemakadensis? Both these species are closely related and specimens are needed for confirmation. But the sharply dentate leaf margins suggest for S.nemakadensis…. I will be coming up with further details later
