Date :13.10.2014
Location: Assam
Family : Rubiaceae
Genus & species :
Habitat: Grows wild on side of the ditches
Habit : Herb

Maybe similar to Hedyotis auricularia L.

It looks as Spermacoce species, the bracts, and flower shows the characters of Spermacoce

Pl. check Spermacoce verticillata (Shrubby False Buttonweed)

May I request you to pl. validate it as per your thread.

But neither of the posts seem to be Spermacoce verticillata.

Yes, it is possibly Spermacoce, but don’t know the species.

I think it should be Spermacoce remota as per comparative images at Spermacoce and as per keys at Flora of China

Yes, it is you are right.

Spermacoce pusilla for confirmation: spermacoce pusilla

small herb, with white flowers about 3mm across

last week of december 2013 at havelock island

It is not S. pusilla.
Please make a comparison with S. remota

the leaves seems much longer in this species if compared with S. pusilla. this is not S. pusilla.

I think it should be Spermacoce remota as per comparative images at Spermacoce and as per keys at Flora of China

No it’s not pusilla, very similar to S. remota.

Thanks, …, Images of Spermacoce pusilla Wall. are different as per images and details herein.

Which Spermscoce sp. please ???

This should be Spermacoce stricta.

Spermacoce stricta L. f.

There seems to be recent taxonomic changes as per details below:
Catalogue of Life (Scleromitrion tenelliflorum var. tenelliflorumWCSP (Scleromitrion tenelliflorum var. tenelliflorumGBIF (with type specimens) Flora of China (Spermacoce pusilla Wallich in Roxburgh)  FOC illustration  Flora of Pakistan (Borreria pusilla (Wall.) DC.) FOP illustration  Annotated checklist of Flowering plants of Nepal (Borreria pusilla (Wall.) DC.) Hong Kong Herbarium with distribution given as Assam; Bangladesh; Borneo; China South-Central; China Southeast; East Himalaya; Hainan; Japan; Jawa; Korea; Malaya; Maluku; Myanmar; Nansei-shoto; Nicobar Is.; Philippines; Sumatera; Taiwan; Thailand; Vietnam as per Catalogue of Life
This looks different from our posts at Spermacoce pusilla

According to plant list stricta and pusilla are different.
The correct name following plant list which is more preferable is Oldenlandia tenelliflora (Blume) Kuntze.

Thanks, …  The Plant List is a fixed set of data based on data supplied by various organizations, few years back, in this case WCSP. WCSP records have changed since than, but The Plant List remains same with the old data.
Even Catalogue of Life is also based on WCSP data in this case, but it is updated every month.
I know both taxons are different based on data of WCSP, which is more upto date. Data of Flora of Pakistan and Flora of China are also old i. e. why can not be relied upon in this case.

Because they were running short of money to keep up the websites or were too lazy!!

or ran out of cheap labor that used to flock to Harvard to keep the e-floras going and Dr Raven retired

The website is controlled more by Kew I think.
They say every time a new head comes, he/she comes with new ideas.
And now they are working on another website instead of upgrading existing ones.
the new website will probably be called PLANTS OF THE WORLD.

This is closer to Spermacoce remota Lam. rather than those at Scleromitrion tenelliflorum

Spermacoce sp ??

Pl. check your earlier posting at Scleromitrion tenelliflorum (Hong Kong)
To me appears close.

Exallage auricularia (L.) Bremek. ??
Syn : Oldenlandia auricularia (L.) K.Schum.
Hedyotis auricularia L.

To me looks different from images at
https://sites.google.com/site/efloraofindia/species/m–-z/r/rubiaceae/oldenlandia/hedyotis-auricularia

Looks like borreria stricta.

Thanks, …, I have also suggested the same.

Thank you …
