This moderate-sized tree was shot from Chakrata region in Uttrakhand..
I think this can be Casearia graveolens.. please give your valuable suggestions..

It looks more like Casearia tomentosa Roxb. now Guidonia tomentosa Roxb.

To me it is C.tomentosa now known as Guidonia tomentosa (Roxb.) Kurz

Valid name remains Casearia tomentosa Roxb. & not Guidonia tomentosa Roxb. Pl. see Casearia

Correct name now is Casearia tomentosa Roxb.

Members please note that The Plant list version 1.1 of 2013 has superseded version 1 of 2010

Both are available online but entries of Version 1 are grayed out so also check and look for green entries of new version.

Casearia tomentosa is a tomentose species. But the present photos show a glabrous plant.

To me, the underside of the leaves appear to be tomentose

It is Glochidion sp

Glochidion species in efi so far.

It seems to be Casearia elliptica.

Glochidion fruits are usually lobed… this one is not. Perhaps this is some other species?

This is probably some species of Casearia. Perhaps C. sylvestris.

I think this should be Casearia tomentosa as per images and details herein, as suggested by …

This tree in flowers was shot from periphery of Renuka Ji lake in H.P.

I am taking this as Casearia tomentosa, please correct me, if so required…

One more very important use of the ripen fruit of the plant is that The local tribal use this fruit for fish poisoning in almost all parts of Orissa.

I also think this should be Casearia tomentosa as per images and details herein.

Casearia esculenta: Today at Sagargad, Alibag
Casearia esculenta

Local Marathi name: Kirmar

Casearia esculenta with tomentose leaves and branches are quite strange, I feel.
Some earlier postand … pictures @ Flickr

http://www.flickr.com/photos/dinesh_valke/3495670815/
This plant might be a different species.

Could this be Casearia tomentosa, a rare plant?

Agree with …. This looks like Casearia elliptica [previously C.tomentosa] a fairly common tree in the Borivali N.P.

The species Casearia elliptica, is also reported from Haryana Siwaliks…Thanks for very nice uploads.

Casearia tomentosa & Casearia elliptica are different species as per The Plant List links:
http://www.theplantlist.org/tpl/record/tro-100346104
http://www.theplantlist.org/tpl/record/tro-13200322
Pl. clarify the exact species with author citation

According to “the plant list” Casearia elliptica Tul. is a synonym of Casearia nigrescens Tul.
http://www.theplantlist.org/tpl/record/tro-13200322
and Casearia tomentosa is a different species with a new name Guidonia tomentosa (Roxb.) Kurz
http://www.theplantlist.org/tpl/record/tro-100346104

Many thanks … for the updating with the latest names of Casearia. Will also look into http://www.flickr.com/photos/dinesh_valke/3495670815/ … will post it for querying / validating the ID later.

Request for Identification

Kindly identify this tree species.

Location: Jammu

Altitude: 1100 feets asl

Date March 2011

Is it a species belongs to the family Flacourtiaceae?

Can this plant be Casearia elliptica
Kindly have a look on the below link: IIIM

In Casearia the arils are pale-dark yellow in color. Here the same is red in color hence I do not think that this is a species of Casearia.
It is very difficult for me to run the key because flower characters and fine characters of leaf are missing.

It should be Casearia tomentosa as per images and details herein and as per comparative images at Casearia

I too agree with tomentosa …
