Desmodium gangeticum from Lohari Panipat:  Desmodium gangeticum

Yes, Desmodium gangeticum of Fabaceae family.
Orila in Malayalam Pulladi in Sidha (Tamil, I guess. … please clarify this) Shalaparni in Sanskrit.
It is used as a valuable medicine. At least in Kerala, the population is declining because of uncontrolled harvest from it’s natural habitat.

the Tamil names are: Pulladi, Orilai [transliterated as single-leaf]

another shrub for id mm3 18092011:  small shrub not more than three feet
flowers about 5mm
would very much appreciate an id

… most possibly species of Desmodium. The first two pictures remind of Desmodium gangeticum (let us wait for comments)
The leaves of plant in last picture IMG_0031 aa.jpg seems to have more of obtuse apex … is that a different plant ?

28 and 30 are the same
31 is different, i assumed they were the same species they were growing about five feet apart

I think Desmodium gangeticum of Leguminose family.

Just for the record – both are herbs [not shrubs], while this in a perennial erect herb, Leea macrophylla is an annual. My photographs of both are on the net, but may send some more later.

… yes from my side (referring to the singled out IMG_0031 aa.jpg) … only that, to me the obtuse-ended leaves is new (or may have not paid attention earlier).

Requesting to please validate ID of this plant captured near Satara, Maharashtra in October 2014.

Is this some Desmodium?

Desmodium gangeticum.

Yes, it is Desmodium gangetica bearing pinkish flowers in slender racemes. Apluda mutica– grass is standing in front.

‘Apluda mutica– grass is standing in front.’
I will appreciate learning why you say so.
Am trying to fit it into the description of A. mutica (Raceme 1-noded, enclosed in a spathe, a boat-shaped structure) but an unable to do so given the data in the image or am I missing it? Don’t see any awn either.

Desmodium for ID :: Mumbai :: ARKNOV29 : 8 posts by 3 authors. Attachments (7)
This was seen in the Aarey forest near Mumbai in November 2016. The seeds were brownish black in colour and were flattish.
They were not prickly or spiny or sticky but were sticking to the body or clothes easily and could not be brushed off easily, they had to be picked off.
Is it a Desmodium?

I think yes.

Thanks … Could it be D. gangeticum?

Quite possible.

The trifoliate leaf is confusing. Otherwise looks Desmodium gangeticum.

Thanks … for your remark. On closer look, it may not be trifoliate, may be there are 2 branches crossing?

Correct … got disillusioned with arrangement of leaves in IMG_0460 !!! On closer look, they are all unifoliate !
This must be D. gangeticum.

Thank you so much … Your comment made me have a relook at the pic 🙂

Plant for ID : Attachments (1). 2 posts by 2 authors.

Please ID.

Location : Wayanad

Found along with other seedlings. Not sure if planted or wild.

Seems to be a Desmodium species. Could be wild. Family: Fabaceae

Is this Desmodium gangeticum?

It is difficult to id species level only by this picture. Since leaves are deltoid there is a possibility of Desmodium velutinum (Willd.) DC.

Thanks, … You are absolutely right.

Desmodium gangeticum (L.) DC. ??
Confusion about elevation and leaf pattern.

Pl. check with images and details at
https://sites.google.com/site/efloraofindia/species/a–-l/f/fabaceae/desmodium/desmodium-gangeticum

I checked earlier and guessed so but could not validate. Looks matching except for the elevation.

Any further opinion? Desmodium laxiflorum ?

Leaves are trifoliate in Desmodium laxiflorum subsp. laxiflorum
