This late flowering species as indicated in the key comes to flower in August and continues to end of September as we found in Chakrata area is much more rebust than C. canadensis, reaching 2 m in height much branched in the upper part, branches and leaves densely hairy, lower leaves oblanceolate, upper linear-lanceolate, heads longer and broader, 4-6 mm across, phyllaries densely hairy with shorter hairs; broader fruiting head and longer pappus.

Kindly help Id this plant growing wild at Pune ? Conyza bonariensis
about 3.5 feet to 4 feet with narrow coarsely toothed basal leaves and slender top leaves. yellow flower heads and I think brownish seeds in the centre surrounded by white hair
I cannot comment on hair on stem and leaves as this was growing in a compound of a locked bungalow but a cropped picture of the stem I think appears to show stiff hair.
Features match with Conyza bonariensis except the height which is more than 75 cms This should be Conyza bonariensis only, can grow taller. sharing images of Conyza sumatrensis from Pune. This plant finally became tall and fell down. image 4.jpg under this thread is not of Conyza sumatrensis but Conyza bonariensis. I have posted it by mistake. is it possible to delete it from the thread?

I am not able to differentiate this picture from Conyza bonariensis. Any clues? Not to be confused with Conyza bonariensis, but yes often confused with Conyza canadensis. It is a much taller plant often reaching 1.5 m, whereas C. bonariensis does not grow more than 50 cm

20 July 2016. Yes …, often confused and identified as taller form of C. canadensis. I don’t know about your area but in Kashmir valley C. canadensis generally flowers in May June, whereas C. sumatransis commences flowering towards middle of July and continues up to September. Heads are shaped somewhat like C. canadensis but longer.

This plant was about 40cm tall and was only one of the two growing in that rainwater drain. Which Conyza species could this be? I do not have more detailed photos as I had to practically lie down to take this photo. But if required I can collect a leaf and a flowerhead and have a closer look.

Wild plant seen in Bangalore in the first week of Jan. It was around 3 feet high.
I think Asteraceae member. Please check it for Erigeron (=Conyza) bonariensis. To me it looks different from images at Conyza bonariensis Pl. also check with comparative images at Blumea I think more closer to images at Conyza sumatrensis (Retz.) E. Walker It looks like Conyza canadensis a roadside weed in many cities. In the absence of photographs of the fully opened flowers it is difficult to arrive at a decision by me. I rechecked again, all posts in efi on Conyza canadensis are from Himalayas. Keys are also provided here. I still feel it is more closer to Conyza sumatrensis. May I request … to have a re-look pl. May be, when all the details, and description is insufficient there is a chance for mis identification between closely related species. I am not above that. Thanks … for all the help in identifying this plant.. Will try to get more pictures when I revisit the place.

I had attached images (1 to 8) in my earlier post where I thought them as Conyza bonariensis. Fortunetly I got hints from … about C. sumatrensis. Then I searched other specimen grown in different places of the same region and collected them (Image No. 11 – 13). I then dissect the reproductive parts of the the specimen and got the following characters. So please ID the Conyza sp. whether it is C. bonariensis or sumatrensis. I had seen all three growing in Kashmir and found some interesting facts.
Conyza bonariensis is the earliest to flower in May, continuing into june, has more spreading habit, longer and broader leaves and few larger and nearly ovoid to somewhat broader-based heads narrowing towards top, with no visible rays.
C. candensis flowers mostly in June, the plants are erect, delicate, linear with much smaller nearly cylindrical heads with distinct ray florets. the plants are barely taller than 1 m.
C. sumatrensis (syn: C. albida) is a much taller and robust plant often reaching 2 m ot more, much more robust, with heads almost as long as C. bonariensis, but more cyllindrical, without evident ray florets. The leaves are broader like C. bonariensis, but perhaps more broader if we take L vs B ratio into consideration. The plant becomes prominent August onwards and flowers in August to October in Kashmir and Chakrata where I saw it.
I think C. sumatrensis I guess this should be Erigeron bonariensis L. Syn : Conyza bonariensis (L.) Cronquist ! I agree with … for Conyza sumatrensis (Retz.) E. Walker rather than those at Conyza bonariensis (L.) Cronquist
