Is it some Alysicarpus species?

Near Colva Beach, Goa on 28/9/09.

yes … it is Alysicarpus species, but only an Alysicarpus expert could tell the species. the plants in this genus show much similarity, but even the species show much variability too. identification depends upon the stipus, the pod, the length of  calyx during the fruiting stage.

is it Alysicarpus bupleurifolius ?, a wild guess

Thanks, …, for the feedback.
I checked pictures of the same in PIER at, but it’s different:

It is Alysicarpus bupleurifolius as per …

i also id my photograph of similar plant as Alysicarpus bupleurifolius on the basis of local flora, but i was not very sure

Thanks, …,
But why are pictures in PIER of Alysicarpus bupleurifolius as per links appear quite different:
While it matches the images at Flickr

The leaf, pod, flowers in pairs suggest it could be Alysicarpus vaginalis

it is Alysicarpus vaginalis

Alysicarpus ovalifolius

Please provide valuable suggestions for specific id of this herb which looks like a species of Alysicarpus..

Alysicarpus species in eFloraofindia (with details/ keys from published papers/ regional floras/ FRLHT/ FOI/ Biotik/ efloras/ books etc., where ever available on net)

It looks like Alysicarpus ovalifolius (Sch.)J.Leonard ; leaf elliptic-oblong; pod not moniliform, and puberulous calyx not longer than first joint of pod are main reasons. For A.vaginalis although the pod is not moniliform it is almost glabrous, the band between articles is absent.

Alysicarpus bupleurifolius from Panipat
pls validate

Good catch. Initially I thought you missed the flowers but later I could find them on opening the full size image.

To me it appears close to images at Alysicarpus ovalifolius (Schum.) Leonard

These are the images of Alysicarpus ovalifolius.

¿ Alysicarpus ? (family: Fabaceae)
Dear friends, would like to know if this plant is Alysicarpus … the only two photos (practically one) and the aspects seen may not help reach ID to species level.
The tiny flower is just about 4 mm (including its tiny stalk). The pods: about 15 mm x 2 mm.

Can it be Alysicarpus monilifer?

I agree with …, this is A. monilifer.
Fruits are not as inflated as the ones in my collection / in some populations, a variation seen in this species?

Thank you very much … for the ID. Alysicarpus species are tough for me. I some how missed … response; thank you very much … Will update my notes at flickr.

no. This is not Alysicarpus monilifer. This is A. vaginalis. Kindly also consult …

Alysicarpus ovalifolius

Here is a herb recorded from Panipat …..
This will be great if specific id for this Alysicarpus could be suggested, with these pics offering no details….

KPD3 291023: Regarding identification of the species collected from Dhenkanal Odisha on Oct 23: 6 high res. images.

Alysicarpus ovalifolius.
But looks like quite different in habit, inflorescence.

It’s quite different from the vegetative characters of Alysicarpus ovalifolius.

Alysicarpus vaginalis (L.) DC. !

There is a chance of Alysicarpus vaginalis as … said but flower is also needed for final confirmation

Legume and leaf matches !

I think … may be right, as there are lot variations in this taxa as seen at
He is an expert on this genus.
