See the thread Thanks … Veronica salina from Kashmir: Sorry for being a Doubting Thomas all the time. But I am confused as to why this one should not be Veronica anagallis-aquatica. That is the beauty of the group. We don’t take things fore-granted. I rather feel odd when identifications are not contested. A doubt always gives you more chance for critical study. I think it is more closer to Veronica anagalloides Guss. as per images and details herein compared to Veronica undulata Wall. Rather difficult to fix Two species are very close V. anagalloides: Fruit ovoid, distinctly longer than broad, apically emarginate calyx shorter than fruit, pedicel upcurved at apex V. undulata: Fruit subglose, as long as broad, apically rounded, calyx as long or longer, pedicel at right angles not upcurved. .
Strongly glandular pubescent bracts and calyx do suggest V. salina. Yes, appears close to images at Veronica anagalloides Guss. .
Please check Veronica beccabunga L. ! Going by the lower elevation of the place, it is more likely to be It seems veronica beccabunga. Google shows an elevation of 236 meters for Chaukpuri. Is this correct? Yes, it is correct. After many literature reviews, I guess it is very close to V. beccabunga L. Is Veronica beccabunga reported at such a low elevation? If so, pl. give the reference and what it says? Yes, I am working on it, as of now it is reported from higher elvation like H.P, Jammu and Kashmir etc. Ok. Thanks . References: |
