The presence of garlic smell in Mansoa and its absence in Cydista is crucial difference in practice.

Native to South America, Garlic Vine is one of the most rewarding, flowering vines that you can grow.
Interestingly enough it smells like garlic. However, it doesn’t smell if the plant is left alone, only when the leaves are crushed.
It can either be described as a shrub or a vine since it produces numerous woody vines from the root that grow only 2-3 m tall and form a shrub-like appearance.
Its compact habitat and pretty continuos flowers make it a popular ornamental plant in gardens in the tropics.
It produces bright green leaves up to 15 cm long.
Flowering twice a year you will find it quite often covered with flowers. Flowers start off purple with white throat and change to a lighter shade of lavender with age. Eventually fading to almost white. You will see 3 different color of flowers at the same time on the plant. It can be grown in containers and should be trimmed after the flowers are gone.

I would appreciate knowing the name of a flowering creeper with lilac coloured flowers which is quite common. In Bengal it is called Rashun Lata (garlic creeper) as its leaves, when squashed, smells of garlic. I am attaching an image (not taken by me) to help its identification in English. If leaves have garlic smell, it should be Mansoa alliacea. It is very often confused with Bignonia aequinoctialis L (syn: Cydista aequinoctialis (L.) Miers), which does not have garlic smell. You will get confused if you seek answer from the internet, because some websites will even cite them as synonyms, although they are different.

Thanks for the interesting additional info. Is there any other species of Pachyptera with light blue flowers? Is this the new name for Garlic Vine? Top tropical considers Mansoa alliacea, Pachyptera hymenaea, Pseudocalymma alliacea, Cydista aequinoctialis as same although they are different.
There is no post on Mansoa hymenaea (DC.) A.H.Gentry in efi except this old post.
I think it should be Mansoa alliacea (Lam.) A.H.Gentry with which its images match
