. Fabaceae for identification :: Feb2018 MK001 : 9 posts by 4 authors. Attachments (9) Please help me in identifying this Fabaceae herb. It was found in a fresh fallow land, so I doubt that this could be under cultivation. Could this be an Alysicarpus sp.?
Height: about 1 metre
Date: 28 Nov 2017
Place: Dharwad, Karnataka
Looks like Alysicarpus glumaceus (Vahl) DC It is Alysicarpus pubescens Law. ex Wight; reasons- hairy herb; standard yellow, flowers in dense silky racemes I think that standard petal is yellow in colour in Alysicarpus pubescens
To me it appears more closer to Alysicarpus glumaceus than Alysicarpus pubescens as per images herein

Alysicarpus ¿ species ?
The colour combination in flower seems to be strikingly different. Naive questions: Does it tell ID? OR are there many species sharing this colour combination ? Answers to this will help me very much.

ID of alysicarpus shall need photographs of pods … Alysicarpus species in eFloraofindia (with details/ keys from published papers/ regional floras/ FRLHT/ FOI/ Biotik/ efloras/ books etc., where ever available on net) There are other species of the genera Alysicarpus have similar kind of dual coloured flowers. In the images attached, calyx is much longer, since it is difficult to identify species because identification is mainly based on pods. Thank you very much … for your thoughts and the possible IDs. Indeed I must get to the pods in future to avoid ambiguities. To me appears more close to images at Alysicarpus heyneanus Wight & Arn. Yes. Alysicarpus rugosus A heyneanus var. heyneanus Alysicarpus scariosus (Rottler ex Spreng.) Graham ?? I am not sure about the id as Alysicarpus scariosus A. heyneanus var. heyneanus . Alysicarpus scariosus (Rottler ex Spreng.) Graham ?? I am not sure about the id as Alysicarpus scariosus Shorter leaves and dense inflorescence should go with A. scariosus. Leaves longer, infl. often 10-15 cm long. Shantanu ji is an expert on this genus and he has identified it as A. heyneanus var. heyneanus . Pl. check Alysicarpus heyneanus var. heyneanus Location: Chobhar, Nepal
Altitude: 4500 ft.
Date: 21 September 2018
Habit : Wild
I guess it is matching to Alysicarpus longifolius (Rottler ex Spreng.) Wight & Arn. but it is not listed in Nepal.
Alysicarpus sanjappae S. Chavan et. al Thank you … By the way I could not find its listing in Nepal.

https://biodiversity.bt/observation/show/6468 This is definitly not Alysicarpus longifolius. I think Dr Pokle and should be able give the correct ID. Alysicarpus glumaceous is also a variable species. it is not A sanjappae but appears close to a heynianus. However it’s leaves are characteristic of A scariosus. To conform identity it’s primary bract and secondary bracts along with pod with it’s uppermost article need to be studied. So will keep it under Alysicarpus heyneanus, for the time being: Looking at the leaves, it looks like Alysicarpus heyneanus Location: Chobhar Height, Kathmandur , Nepal
Altitude: 4600 ft.
Date: 15 Septemberr 2016
Alysicarpus sp?? But does not look like matching with two sp listed in Nepal.
http://www.efloras.org/florataxon.aspx?flora_id=110&taxon_id=101234 This is one of the form of Alysicarpus sanjappae, it is procumbent, but shows erect habit due to support of grasses. Identify by height 30 cm, pods slightly exerted from calyx, inflorescence dense, pods transversely wrinkled. I am happy to suggest you this is new report of this species and it extends it distribution. Some one suggested it to be A. rugosus ?
Further suggestion please.
Alysicarpus glumaceus (Vahl) DC. ?? efi page on with images Alysicarpus glumaceus

Alysicarpus vaginalis (L.) DC. ??
ID not yet validated. I will keep it under Alysicarpus heyneanus, for the time being as per discussions at SK1556 10 Nov 2018:
