Native to: e and s tropical Africa, Himalaya (Kumaun to Nepal), India, Myanmar . In O. pallidus the white flower-tube is almost as long as the calyx, whereas in O. rubicundus the white flower-tube is twice as long as the calyx.
. In Orthosiphon pallidus, the corolla is as long as the calyx. The differentiating point between thymiflorous and rubicundus is leaf morphology. In rubicundus the leaf has very short petiole-up to 4mm or the leaf is almost sessile, and in thymiflorous petiole is longer-about 1 to 3cm;

During my tenure as D.F.O Bilashpur in Chhatishgarh in the year 2000, I try to understand the traditional use of some medicinal Plant in that area. I came across this type of plant locally called as Kamraj having tuborous root/stem, if it is a herb, it may be some sp. of Orthosiphon. I am attaching some pic of my Orthosiphon rubicundus (experts may pl correct the my id if it is otherwise), which may help you in your plants identification. These pictures do not match with images of Orthosiphon rubicundus (D.Don) Benth. I think these images also must be of Orthosiphon rubicundus (D.Don) Benth. as per discussions in another thread.

In view I am now taking it as Orthosiphon thymiflorus. I think it should be Orthosiphon rubicundus (D.Don) Benth. as per keys & images herein.

the photos are attached with of a Lamiaceae member found in the dry deciduous forest of central India, Gadchiroli M.S. It’s a herb, acaulescent. Leaves are 7-15cm around non-aromatic. Flowering in July-Sept.

But the description provided in flora and the plant in actual doesn’t match with each other not even with Flowers of India and just out of curiosity when searched for relevant images on google, I find a link to a herbarium sheet http://actd.iict.pt/view/actd:LISC060126 this also not matches with it,
The leaves are densely arranged near the base (ground) on a very short stem and it does not show even bolting at maturity.
Kindly consider for further discussion! Pl. see comparative images at Orthosiphon & details of species found in India.
From this it is seen that there is one Orthosiphon comosus, which certainly looks different.
There is another Endostemon viscosus, which also looks different as per the following:
Comaparative images for other options are available at Orthosiphon, from which it comes closer to Orthosiphon rubicundus (D.Don) Benth. as per images & keys provided herein. There appears to be many varieties as per details. It may be one of them.

This was seen growing besides the road that passes thru Chinnar WLS, Kerala
Chinnar straddles the Nilgiris and falls in the rain shadow area of the Western Ghats I think more close to images at Orthosiphon rubicundus (D.Don) Benth. rather than those at Orthosiphon thymiflorus (Roth) Sleesen as per details and keys herein.
I used the following infomation as criteria to get the id. the petiole in the photographs does seem longer
