Veronica serpyllifolia ABMAY2017/03 : 2 posts by 2 authors. Attachments (7) Could this plant shared by me in 2017 be V. serpyllifolia ssp. humifusa?
I am asking because I recently found a smaller and whiter version of this species at 1800m which I suspect to be ssp. serpyllifolia. Please advise. I got the keys from Scrophulariaceae of the Western Himalayas By Francis & Pennell.
I also got the keys as below from Go Botany:

Pl. check. Thank you very much … I had seen the Go Botany keys but was wondering ion a member had first hand experience of the subspecies. I will file the other ssp. Soon. On checking with keys from both the sources lead me to V. serpyllifolia ssp. humifusa (Dickson) Syme But what is worrying me is that Catalogue of Life does not give its distribution in India.
Although Conspectus of the genus Veronica Linnaeus (Plantaginaceae) in India by Priyanka Agnihotri, Veena Dixit and Tariq Husain – Pleione 8(1): 9 – 16. 2014, gives its distribution in Uttarakhand only as below:
V. serpyllifolia Linnaeus, subsp. serpyllifolia 2400 – 4000 May – August- J&K, UK, HP, WB- Afghanistan, Europe, Australia, China, Japan, Africa, N. & S. America
Thank you … Perhaps we have only one ssp. and there is good variation in plants growing at different elevations in the same area. Or perhaps a further study is required to establish the differences. I am posting a plant here for your reference. While the plant I posted earlier is from above 2800m, the other included here is from 1800m. The flowers of the plant at the lower elevations are significantly smaller and whiter. The leaves too are smaller and smoother with no hint of hairiness. I am including them for your reference.

I am sending some plants which were snapped recently from Chansil Pass in Simla Dist. at 3800m. Kindly put them on your site for further confirmation. Veronica species in efi I think this should be Veronica serpyllifolia subsp. humifusa (Dicks.) Syme as per keys and details herein. .

Here it is.. May be Veronica serpyllifolia subsp. humifusa (Dicks.) Syme although I do not clearly see pubescence of pedicels, in part, of viscid or glandular hairs, which differentiates it from Veronica serpyllifolia subsp. serpyllifolia
