Kalatope id al080711: Possible id ‘Shady Himalayan Clearweed (Pilea umbrosa)’

rather dumb of me … but I was so sure that it was a nettle..(not realising that there were MANY nettles that I just took a photo of the flower and not the plant)

I think … is right, Pilea umbrosa seems right choice.
… it does not have stinging hairs, rather soft hairs on branches.

I imagine why it is called Pilea. Pilea means “cap or hat”.

Kindly confirm my identification of this plant as Girardinia heterophylla from Paddar valley J&K.
Altitude: 1970 meters asl
Plant habit/habitat: Wild herb
Plant height: 1-3 feets

This is not Girardinia. Please check it for Pilea.

Yes I too think that this is a species of Pilea of Urticaceae family.

I think closer to Pilea umbrosa images at as per keys in Flora of Pakistan.

Yes, might be P. umbrosa. These species are very similar and not easy to be distinguished from living photos. There are many micro-morphological characters are important for Pilea identification.
