‘Siru Nelli’ (meaning Small Amla);

Request Tree ID 116 – lalbagh, Bangalore – RA:
the way leaflets and flowers (Tiny and white) are growing together should be the clue to its id but I haven’t the foggiest beyond its relationship/ resemblance to phyllanthus…

Looks like one of the Phyllanthus species. Not able to pinpoint the species.

The smooth greyish bark is characteristic to Phyllanthus polyphyllus.

Correct identification.

Found in Vandalur forest. Chennai.
Shrub. Resembles like the herb phyllanthus niruri.

See whether Phyllanthus polyphyllus!

Yes it is.  Thank you very much … sir.

I was just going through the Phyllanthaceae page. Well, Phyllanthus racemosus L.f. is an earlier name available for P. polyphyllus Willd.

Thank you … Only POWO is showing synonym as P. racemosus not in the Plant List and the CoL.

Thanks, …,
WCSP (on the data of which both The Plant List & Catalogue of Life is based for this taxon) also currently showing Phyllanthus racemosus L.f. as accepted name and P. polyphyllus Willd. as a syn.

Pl. check and correct.

Corrected now!

Emblica racemosa (L.f.) Spreng. Basionym: Phyllanthus racemosus L.f.

Phyllanthaceae: Phyllanthus polyphyllus B.Heyne ex Wall.: 2 high res. images.
location/date (both): University of Agricultural Sciences campus, Bangalore, July 1997

To me appears closer to Phyllanthus racemosus L.f. (syn. Phyllanthus polyphyllus Willd.):

Emblica racemosa, previously Phyllanthus racemosus.
