As per efi thread: Cultivated melons come in a large range of forms, but are grouped into three main groups: 1. Group cantapaulensis: Cantaloupes having variety of skin forms but with non-netted thick skin and yellowish-orange flesh with distinct aroma.
2. Group inodorous: Smooth thin skinned melons with white or greenish flesh without strong aroma.
3. Group reticulatus: distinctly netted skin and lighter coloured flesh

I have updated efi page on Cucumis Attempts have been made to incorporate most of the species available in India & nearby areas with details & keys directly or through links. Any comments are welcome. To me this updation for all the taxa you have done so far is a great task…easy links from various authentic sources are available on a single page… . The taxonomy of Indian Cucumis species has been greatly confused with the merger of most with Cucumis melo, or at the most Cucumis melo subsp. agrestris. It may help our database a lot if we are able to locate and upload these native species which are distinct entities although they may not be recognised as distinct in most recent treatments:
It would be really helpful if any member can upload key separating these taxa given in any older book, their local names and differences.

Pl. go through Cucumis (Cucurbitaceae) page with images of species (done mainly by …) in efloraofindia. If you find any mis-identification, pl. let us know. If anybody can send images of other species of this genera (for incorporation in the website), if any, it will be really nice.
