Unfortunately, the plant did not have flowers or fruits when I photographed it. I am not sure about the shape of the leaves, since the base looks more rounded in the reference pictures you sent.
I am sending all the pictures I have with me, to see if that can help confirm the ID.

Resurfacing this conversation since I got this ID from the Chief scientist at IIHR, Bangalore.
“Looks like Merremia vitifolia Convolvulaceae yellow flower”

I haven’t seen any flowers on this plant. But the leaves look right. Any thoughts?

Looks more like Ampelocissus. M. vitifolia less likely.

For one, Petiole is not so long in M.vitifolia ….in fact much shorter than peduncle. Just checked my collection. Here I see long petioles.

Would you know which species of Ampelocissus? Ampelocissus latifolia leaves look very different. And I have not seen any fruits in this plant.

We should wait for flower/fruit
