Himalayan pincushion Plant;
China (W-Sichuan, NW-Yunnan), SE-Tibet, Myanmar [Burma], Sikkim, Chumbi, Bhutan,
Nepal as per Catalogue of Life; Leaves coriaceous, obovate, 2-5 X 1.5-2.5mm, apex acutely mucornate or obtuse, base sheathing, thin, midrib impressed above. Flowers subsessile. Sepals ovate-oblong, imbricate, leaf-like, 3-4 X 2-3mm. Corolla pale pinkish-red; tube 4-8mm; lobes suborbicular, 3-5mm. Capsule broadly ellipsiod, c.8 mm, surrounded by persistent calyx, on greatly elongated pedicel 5-7cm. Fl. May-August
Rocky hill sides, cliff ledges and damp rocks.

Common Name: Himalayan pincushion Plant Family: Diapensiaceae Flowering: May-June Altitude: 3600-4400m On our way to Gurudongmar Lake in NSikkim Tour, we found this carpet-like plant, densely packed with flowers and tiny crowded leathery leaves. White or pink funnel-shaped flowers are stalk less.
