I am more interested in those very “geographical shaped” leaves… and pink is a nice color…
most of the Pavonias I have seen are from south america, and bright red or very deep pink…
not seen such delicate pink…

Your plant does not seem to be Pavonia because it should have had 10 style-arms. Though the number of style-arms in the picture can not be counted clearly, they appear to be 5. That means it may be Hibiscus. I am not able to place the species. You will have to refer to the state flora. The number of carpels will help to identify the species

I think it is Pavonia.

Can it be Pavonia odorata as per the link?: http://flowersofindia.net/catalog/index.html

In view of this Indiantreepix thread, I think these pictures are of Pavonia odorata.
Pl. validate

Pavonia odorata Willd
It still lingers in small pockets on the outskirts of metros like Bangalore , though one has to travel further to find it. But when one does, its thrilling. The delicate pink flower with translucent petals and fine mesh of bracts on the buds lights up the landscape.
The green bug was a bonus, I saw it only in the picture.
I dont kow the name of the bug, and what its eating ( if you do, please tell me.). But for me it completes this picture of nature, beautiful, bountiful, an essential part of our very humanity.

Thanks, …, It once stole my heart too & took long time to get the proper id.

Thanks for sharing the wonderful crisp petalled Malvaceae member as your picture of 2012. I have added it to Flora picture 2012.

Undershrub 1 m tall, leaves 3-5 cm, orbicular, lobed. Flowers solitary axillary, epicalyx 10-12. From dry area near Belgaum.

Beautiful. The styles and stigma appear to be the optic fibers.

Is this Fragrant Swamp MallowPavonia odorata? Pic taken in Bangalore outskirts on 27-06-2010 at 10.30am

Nice picture. This could be of Pavonia zeylanica.

I think it is Pavonia odorata. In Pavonia zeylanica the leaves are deeply lobed.

Thanks …, you must be right. I also had doubt, but to me the mericarps appear to be winged (not very clear though). The leaves are said to be (FoC) variable….upper shallowly lobed, lower leaves (which is not covered in the pictures) deeply lobed. So, if … can tell us whether the fruits winged (P. z.) or not (P. o.), the id can be resolved.

All  I am sorry but i do not have any other pic of this flower or pics of fruit.

Please help to identify this wildflower. It is commonly found growing by the roadside in the university campus. Taken in Gachibowli, Hyderabad. Also, are the three-lobed leaves characteristic of any particular family?

I think it’s the same plant I posted earlier & available at Indiantreepix link: efi thread & yet to be identified.

One of the Malvaceae members (Pavonia species?).

Yes, it is Pavonia odorata Willd., but now treated as a syn. of Pavonia zeylonica (L.) Cav. as per POWO and Catalogue of Life.
Pavonia leptocalyx (Sond.) Ulbr. is a different plant as per POWO with no distribution in our area.
