I am little confused with name neelathamara. Neela means blue, growing this plant in some regions having violet leaves (green leaves here), so called neelathamara?  Exactly the plant is growing on land, not in water, so it may be nilathamara? Here ‘nilam’ means land.  Can be insert this name also?

Both Malayalam name and spelling are correct.

Kannada names & English transliteration are correct.

You are absolutely right !! Thank you very much for catching the error.

It has to be nilathaamara just the way you pointed out … meaning land or ground.
My mistake !!!
So I am going with നിലത്താമര nilathaamara, meaning “ground lotus”.

Malayalam name corrected …

I am sending few orchid pictures for Id
……………
2nd and 3 rd pictures i want to know if it is Narvillea… if yes i want to know name of the species (leaf and flower of same plant)
Location : Amboli sindhudurg maharashtra
it was found flowering after first few showers in month of June

………… The 2nd and 3rd pictures appear to be of Nervilia crociformis, though the leaves can’t be seen clearly in the given pictures.

Thanks for sharing the pictures, and yes … id is reliable as always.
Nervilia crociformis like other Nervilia’s flower before the emergence of leaves, hence leaves cant be seen in the picture with flowers as they were not there…..

Liked the 5th one the most.

Wonderful images.
I am not sure but I dont think grasshopper or the catterpillar are pollinator but they are just there to feed on flower or just passing by. Thanks a lot for sharing.

There is one more insect in the third pic? Is it the same as fifth one?

Thanks … I too think that the grasshopper just happened to be ‘there to feed.

The insect in the third pic, though faintly visible, is the same grass hopper. I saw it hiding behind as I bent over to frame it.

By the way, in Reunion Islands, Angraecum cadetii is pollinated by cricket- Glomeremus sp. (very similar to small grasshoppers) so always a chance 🙂

Thanks … Nice to know of the possibility of pollination by crickets.

Yes leaf is typical if you have missed the flowers. But this whole group is tricky.

I revisited the specimen, a confirmed Nervilia crociformis, the floral images have been uploaded earlier.
