These Rauvolfia tetraphylla plants were growing in abundance all around in the shade of Suru ban on the island of Devbagh beach resort. 13th April 2012.
Please check the correct spelling as Rauvolfia and not Rauwolfia.
Family : Apocynaceae


The plant is a common weed in IIT Madras, CLRI and Guindy National park and elsewhere in Chennai.

Yes …, we both responded at the same time !!!
And, may be yes …, I have seen some escaped (from cultivation) plants run wild (its an American native) in wastelands and along watercourses on sandy soils.
But I don’t think its a typical coastal plant.
